Beb(a)ski is a collaboration project between Robert Grandjambe and Chloe Dragon Smith.

We live in Wood Buffalo National Park. These are the traditional territories of the Dënësųłiné (Chipewyan), Nehiyaw (Woodland Cree), and Métis peoples and we are the descendants of many who lived, worked, shared, struggled, and died on this Land. We are committed to our responsibilities to Land and peoples, and we created Beb(a)ski as a tool to help us effectively do our work and create change in a good way.

‘BEBA’ translates to ‘FOR’ in dënësųłiné yatié (Chipewyan Dene language). ‘ASKI’ translates to ‘LAND’ in nêhiyawêwin (Woodland Cree language).

BEB(A)SKI = FOR THE LAND

The name was chosen to honour both of our ancestral backgrounds, as well as the hope that we have for peoples and nations to come together and make choices for abundance and sustainability. In revitalizing Indigenous systems, we work to support the Land and navigate through the aftermath of colonialism in our communities, families, and ourselves.

Every project that Beb(a)ski takes on is – and will always be – for the Land.
